Links Of Interest (External Only)

Many of the EOL Members have made comments and/or requests for the ability to have their own Photo Galleries, Blogs and/or Journals, we have decided to provide some links below for our members so that they can set up their own pages. Please keep in mind that these are external/Off-site links, and are free for anyone to use. These links are not affiliated with EOL in any way, and it is recommended that new users read through the Terms Of Service pages when they select the site they prefer to use for their member gallery/blog/journal.

EOL Comment:

If folks find one service is more useful than others, please indicate this. Content incorporated into EOL must normally be in a creative common license (http://creativecommons.org/). External sites that support the tagging of content with licenses are highly preferred since they will make it easier to later incorporate this content into the EOL. Flickr is a good example of a photo upload site that lets you do this and also lets you tag images (for example, with species name) which again will make eventual incorporation into EOL easier. It's quite possible that in the future, EOL may indicate preferred partners for adding content to that it will then pull from rather than (or in addition to) creating EOL specific tools.

I set up a gallery at Fotki.com. I like it because you can organize photos into files and albums. This is useful if you want to organize pictures of organisms by classification.
Still building it but here is mine: http://members.fotki.com/Iyazim/

I tried out flickr. I noticed that unless you are willing to dish out some cash every month, you can't do some key things such as organising photos into many sets (the limit is three with a free account) and there is a pixel and file size limit (1024 pixels). Detail is important for photos of organisms and if you are not willing to put money towards this monthly, I would suggest something else.
