A main interactive feature of the EOL is the ability for users to submit their own photos of organisms. The following is a list of ideas organized by category pertaining to images on the EOL.

+User Photos

  +Submissions

• User photos should be added automatically to the unauthenticated versions of the species page.
• All submissions should be prescreened by a member of the EOL staff to ensure legitamacy of photo.
• There should be a limit on the amount of photos a user can upload a day (or some other time period) to prevent overflooding and   spam.
• A digital signature should accompany a photo submission to confirm the users ownership of said photo and permission to display on the EOL site.
• Only decent and authenticated photos, as determined by members of the EOL staff would remain on the site permanently. Unauthenticated photos would be pruned off annually to keep things clean and save space.

  +Identification

• A group of people classify submitted photos and choose whether or not to include the photos on the species page.

  +Captions

• An option to include a caption or written discription about a users submitted photo should be implemented.

  +Personal Gallery

• Photos submitted by one user can be displayed in a seperate gallery.
• There should be a link to a user blog (if available) of pictures in place of a seperate user gallery.

+Photo display

  +Gallery

• A seperate gallery page should be set up for each species with photos.
• Galleries for photos of a specific kingdom, family, class, etc. should be set up (this would also help in identifying an organism)

  +Size

• Images should be displayed in a gallery format where clicking the image will display its full size (where possible)
• Automatic resizing should be applied to all photos over a predetermined size limit.
